On Thursday, low pressure over the Middle Mississippi/Ohio Valleys will
move eastward to the Mid-Atlantic before moving off the East Coast
overnight Friday. The system will produce light to moderate snow, with
locally higher amounts over parts of the Great Lakes/Ohio Valley region
through late Friday night. Additionally, a northeast wind will create
moderate to heavy lake-enhanced snow over parts of the northeastern coast
of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan overnight Thursday into Friday. The
storm has prompted Winter Weather Warnings and Advisories over parts of
the Upper Midwest.
Overnight Thursday, light to moderate snow will develop over parts of the
Northeast, extending into Saturday. By Friday afternoon, light snow will
develop over parts of the Central Appalachians, becoming light to moderate
overnight Friday into Saturday. In the wake of the storm, temperatures
will be 10 to 15 degrees below average from the Great Lakes and
Middle/Lower Mississippi Valley eastward to the coast. Moreover,
upper-level energy will produce light snow over parts of the Northern
Plains/Upper Mississippi Valley from Friday afternoon into Saturday.
Furthermore, on Thursday, low pressure near the southern Mid-Atlantic
Coast will produce light rain over parts of the region through Saturday
night. Also, light rain will develop over parts of the northern
Mid-Atlantic Coast on Friday afternoon, changing over to snow over the New
Jersey Coast by Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, multiple fronts over the Eastern Pacific will move close to the
West Coast and dissipate, bringing a few rounds of moisture into the
coast. Light rain will develop over parts of the Northwest Coast overnight
Thursday, ending by Friday morning. However, a second round of moisture
will create light rain over parts of the Pacific Northwest Coast by Friday
afternoon. On Saturday, a stronger plum of moisture will produce light
rain over parts of Northwest and Northern/Central California, with snow at
the highest elevations.
