ARE IN EFFECT FOR MUCH OF NEBRASKA AND SOUTHERN SOUTH DAKOTA
EASTWARD THROUGH THE MIDWEST...OHIO VALLEY...LOWER GREAT
LAKES...AND INTO THE NORTHEAST AND SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND.

AT 800 PM CST...A BROAD UPPER LEVEL TROUGH WAS LOCATED ACROSS THE
SOUTHWEST U.S. WITH A NEARLY CLOSED OFF UPPER LEVEL LOW ACROSS
NORTHWESTERN MEXICO.  THIS CLOSED LOW WAS ALLOWING PLENTY OF
MID-LEVEL MOISTURE FROM THE SUBTROPICAL PACIFIC TO STREAM
NORTHEASTWARD INTO THE SOUTHERN/CENTRAL PLAINS. NATIONAL WEATHER
SERVICE RADARS AND OBSERVATIONS INDICATED A LARGE AREA OF MODERATE
TO LOCALLY HEAVY PRECIPITATION FALLING ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE
SOUTHERN/CENTRAL PLAINS AND INTO THE MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY. 
AT THIS POINT...MOST OF THE PRECIPITATION WAS IN THE FORM OF SNOW
ACROSS NEBRASKA...IOWA...AND NORTHERN MISSOURI...WITH RAIN BEING
REPORTED TO THE SOUTH.

THE BROAD UPPER TROUGH WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE EASTWARD
OVERNIGHT...REACHING THE CENTRAL U.S. BY EARLY SUNDAY MORNING.  AS
THE UPPER LEVEL ENERGY EXITS THE MOUNTAINS...AN AREA OF LOW
PRESSURE AT THE SURFACE IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OVER THE CENTRAL
PLAINS ALONG A FRONTAL BOUNDARY AND STRENGTHEN AS IT MOVES
EASTWARD TOWARDS THE OHIO VALLEY.  AN ORGANIZED AREA OF SNOW
SHOULD CONTINUE TO MOVE ACROSS THE CENTRAL PLAINS TONIGHT AND INTO
THE OHIO VALLEY BY SUNDAY... EVENTUALLY REACHING THE NORTHEAST BY
MONDAY.  STORM TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES...WITH
LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS...ARE EXPECTED FROM IOWA TO MASSACHUSETTS
AND DOWNEAST MAINE.  OVER EASTERN NEBRASKA AND SOUTHEASTERN SOUTH
DAKOTA...LIGHTER AMOUNTS ON THE ORDER OF 2 TO 6 INCHES ARE
EXPECTED.
