At 1000 PM EDT...An area of low pressure was located offshore of
the east coast of Florida with a stationary front draped across
North Florida and the Florida Panhandle. Anomalous moisture was
streaming northward out of the Gulf of Mexico producing heavy
rainfall across much of South Florida. Radar indicated moderate to
locally heavy rain and strong thunderstorms were impacting the
Florida Keys and southern portions of the Florida peninsula, south
of Fort Lauderdale and Naples. Isolated to scattered showers and
thunderstorms were also moving slowly across portions of Central
Florida.

Heavy rainfall will continue to impact South Florida through
Friday, and some locations could see additional rainfall amounts
up to 3-5 inches with locally higher amounts possible. Flash
flooding will remain possible through Friday, and a Slight Risk of
Excessive Rainfall is in effect for South Florida. Rainfall should
lessen by this weekend, but some additional showers will be
possible and may continue to exacerbate any ongoing flooding or
flash flooding.
