...Heavy rain and flooding continues across South Florida today...

At 1000 AM EDT...An area of low pressure was located just off the
northeast Florida coast with a stationary front draped across the
far northern Florida peninsula. Anomalous moisture was streaming
northward out of the Gulf of Mexico producing heavy rainfall
across portions of southern Florida. Radar indicated heavy rain
and strong thunderstorms were currently impacting portions of the
west-central coast, just north of Fort Myers, FL, with some
rainfall falling farther inland south of Orlando as well.

Heavy to excessive rainfall will continue across southern Florida
through Friday with an additional widespread 2-5 inches of rain,
with locally higher amounts up to 10 inches, possible across
southern Florida. A high risk of excessive rainfall is in effect
across this region through Thursday although the flash flood
threat will continue into Friday as well. Rainfall should lessen
by this weekend across Florida, but some additional showers will
be possible and may continue to exacerbate any ongoing flooding or
flash flooding.
