...Sleet and Freezing Rain are causing widespread impacts with
more rounds of icy precipitation on the way...
Ice Storm Warnings are in effect for portions of central, north,
and west Texas, western Tennessee, northern Mississippi, and much
of Arkansas.
Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for parts of central, north,
and east Texas, southern Oklahoma, and southwestern Arkansas.
A large swath of Winter Weather Advisories are in effect from West
Texas and southeastern New Mexico to southern West Virginia and
northern Virginia.

At 800 PM CST...A frontal boundary stretched from southern
Louisiana to southern Virginia with two embedded low pressure
centers, one over Louisiana and one near the Tennessee and North
Carolina border. This front has been nearly stationary over the
past 24 hours, resulting in a prolonged period of precipitation
focused on the northern side of the front. The air mass on the
northern side is sufficiently cold to result in precipitation
falling mainly as sleet and freezing rain. Radar and surface
observations show widespread precipitation from Texas to West
Virginia with the heaviest precipitation focused over Tennessee,
Mississippi, and Alabama.

The frontal boundary is forecast to slowly move into the Southeast
Wednesday into Thursday. Several rounds of precipitation are
expected on the northern side of the front through Wednesday night
with additional ice accumulations from one tenth to half an inch
possible in portions of the southern Plains and Mid-South.
Accumulating ice on roadways, especially bridges and overpasses,
will cause treacherous travel conditions, and prolonged power
outages and tree damage are likely.
