Winter Weather Advisories are in effect over portions of the Great
Lakes, Adirondacks, and Green Mountains.

At 700 AM EST...Regional radar imagery and surface observations
depicted a north-south oriented band of mixed moderate to heavy
rain and snowfall over eastern Maine, associated with a rapidly
deepening coastal low just offshore southern Maine. On the
northwest flank of the strengthening frontal system, moderate to
heavy snow squalls were noted across the Ohio Valley into the
Interior Northeast within a cold west-northwesterly flow regime.

Heavy snow will continue to lift north from Maine this morning as
the system lifts into the Canadian Maritimes, although lake effect
snow showers and snow squalls will continue across the eastern
Midwest and Interior Northeast through tonight. This lingering
snow activity will cause hazardous conditions driving over the
aforementioned areas as blowing snow coats the roads and reduces
visibility.
