700 AM PST Sun Jan 15 2023

...Rain and mountain snow gradually weakens over California as the
atmospheric river moves inland...

Winter Storm Warnings are in effect over the Sierra Nevada,
Transverse Range, Spring Mountains, and high elevations of
north-central Arizona.

Flood Warnings are in effect for select portions of the Central
Valley in California.

Flood Watches are in effect for portions of the Bay Area in
California.

For a detailed graphical depiction of the latest watches, warnings
and advisories, please see www.weather.gov

At 600 AM PST...Overall, precipitation coverage across the West
has generally decreased in intensity and coverage as an
atmospheric river weakens across the West. National Weather
Service RADAR indicates a broad area of moderate to heavy
precipitation across much of central Arizona associated with the
atmospheric river. Another area of widely scattered showers and
thunderstorms is currently moving from west to east across much of
California, with an area of particularly heavy precipitation
making its way into the Bay Area currently, associated with the
impending atmospheric river forecast to impact the area on Monday.

Although rain and mountain snow will continue to wind down today,
another atmospheric river will bring additional rounds of heavy
rainfall and mountain snow on Monday. With saturated conditions
still in place across much of California, even light to moderate
precipitation impacts can result in flooding, mudslides, and other
associated damages. This next atmospheric river will focus on
regions of central and southern California, especially along
coastal areas. Meanwhile in the mountains, additional heavy snow
of 1-2 feet is expected. Strong winds may accompany the heavy
snowfall, which may lead to blowing snow and whiteout conditions.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 700 PM PST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
