northern/central Plains and Upper Midwest...
Blizzard Warnings continue for portions of the central and
northern High Plains.

and southeastern North Dakota.

At 800 PM CST...The center of an occluded low pressure system with
estimated sea-level pressure of 1007 mb...or 29.74 inches of
Hg...was analyzed over northeastern Kansas near Topeka. The long,
occluded front wrapped around the low from the central to northern
Plains and into the Upper Midwest, under the base of a deep
upper-level low aloft. National Weather Service Doppler radar
indicated a broad area of light to moderate wintry precipitation
was still falling in the vicinity of the wrapping occluded front
and surface low, mainly in the form of freezing rain across
portions of southeastern North Dakota into northern Minnesota,
with snow elsewhere. A rain/snow mix was occurring where warmer
air resided over portions of central and western Missouri. Surface
observations indicated winds remained strong along portions of the
High Plains, with sustained winds upwards of 25-35 mph and gusts
to 45 mph.

Precipitation associated with the winter storm should wined down
overnight, with a light wintry mix persisting into the day
Wednesday, particularly along the surface low track moving through
the Middle Missouri Valley. Some additional accumulations of 1-3"
are most likely from northeastern Colorado into eastern Nebraska
and southern South Dakota, as well as the Middle Missouri Valley.
Winds should also wane somewhat by Wednesday morning. However,
areas of blowing snow may impact travel, especially through
Tuesday night. Some additional ice accumulations of up to 0.1" are
possible from northern South Dakota into southeastern North
Dakota, which will maintain a threat of power outages and tree
damage, in addition to dangerous travel conditions.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 900 AM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
