...Heavy snow and mixed precipitation continues in the Upper
Midwest, as severe weather and strong winds impact the East
Coast...

Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for portions of the
northeastern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

High Wind Warnings are in effect for the Ohio Valley, West
Virginia, the Central Appalachians, and southern Pennsylvania.

Wind Advisories are in effect for the Ohio Valley, Midwest, Middle
Mississippi Valley, Mid-South, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and
Northeast.

Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for portions of the Upper
Midwest.

At 900 AM CDT...A strong low-pressure system with a minimum
central pressure of 989 mb or 29.21 inHg was located over eastern
Lake Huron, with an occluded boundary stretching east to a triple
point low in eastern Ontario. A cold front extended southwestward
from the triple point through western New York/Pennsylvania, while
a warm front extended eastward through the Northeast and into the
Atlantic. Latest RADAR and surface observations depicted ongoing
moderate to heavy snowfall on the northern flank of the
precipitation shield associated with the expansive storm system
along an axis stretching from Maine to Alabama. Strong northerly
winds have also persisted on the backside of the low, leading to
blowing snow and blizzard conditions at times. Light to moderate
sleet and freezing rain was also ongoing in northern Wisconsin. In
the warm sector of the system, a severe weather outbreak continued
across the Southeast.

Moderate to heavy snow will continue this morning as the storm
system tracks eastward across the Midwest and East Coast.
Additional snowfall accumulations of 4-8" will be possible along a
stripe extending from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan into
southeastern Canada. In addition to heavy snowfall, strong winds
will continue to impact the Midwest and East Coast leading to
hazardous travel conditions today. Widespread Wind Advisories and
High Wind Warnings valid through Saturday evening. Farther south,
in the warm sector of the system, the severe weather will impact
the East Coast this morning.
