...A winter storm system brings light to moderate snowfall to the
Northeast...

Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for portions higher elevations
of Upstate New York and southern Vermont, coastal Connecticut, New
Hampshire, and southeastern Maine.

Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for much of the Northeast.

At 900 AM EST...A strengthening low pressure system, attributed to
a Miller-Type B cyclone, was centered about 150 miles offshore of
New Jersey with a minimum pressure of 994 mb (29.35 in. Hg).
Additionally, a weakening low pressure system was analyzed over
southern Ontario, with a minimum pressure of 998 mb (29.47 in.
Hg). An occluded front extended from the low over southern Ontario
through central Pennsylvania and into a triple point over the
central Appalachians. From the triple point, a stationary front
extended east through the Mid Atlantic and offshore into the
strengthening low pressure system. A cold frontal boundary
extended to the west of the triple point into the Tennessee River
Valley. National Weather Service Radar and surface observations
show a broad area of moderate snowfall over the Northeast,
particularly to the east of the occluded front. There are also
some areas of mixed precipitation over eastern Pennsylvania.

Moderate snowfall is expected to continue over much of the
Northeast and New England today as the cyclone offshore becomes
the dominant cyclone. 2-4" of additional snowfall is expected over
portions of southern and central New England, with locally higher
amounts over the higher elevations. Meanwhile, 6-10" of additional
snowfall is expected over New Hampshire and southeastern Maine as
snowfall ramps up over the region today. The snow will subside
from west to east through tonight, with the vast majority of snow
ending by tomorrow morning for the Northeast.
