1001 mb, or 29.56 inches of mercury, was moving pass to the north
of the Great Lakes, with a couple of trailing fronts moving into
the upper Great Lakes and upper Midwest. National Weather Service

north of Buffalo downwind from Lake Erie as well as near the

As the low pressure system approaches the lower Great Lakes today,
heavy lake effect snow bands are expected to impact regions
farther to the north downwind from Lake Erie and Lake Ontario
today mainly north of Baffalo and Watertown New York. However, as
the associated fronts pass through these areas tonight, influx of
colder air and winds shifting to west or west-northwest should
result in a resurrgence of heavy snow as well as shifting the snow
bands back toward the Buffalo and Watertown vicinity by tonight
and into Sunday. The snowfall should begin to subside from west
to east later on Sunday and Sunday night as the favorable wind
trajectories and cold air advection over the Lakes begins to end
following the passage of a surface ridge and subsequent warmer air
behind it.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 1000 PM EST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
