...A wintry mix of light freezing rain, sleet, and snow will
continue through early this afternoon from the lower Mississippi
valley to the Mid-Atlantic...

At 800 AM CST...A low pressure center was located off the Outer
Banks of North Carolina, near 35N 73W, with an estimated central
pressure of 1016 mb, or 30 inches of mercury. A stationary front
extended southwest to the South Carolina coast, connecting to a
cold front extending westward to a surface low in central Georgia,
near 34 N 85 W, with an estimated central pressure of 1015 mb, or
29.97 inches of mercury. The cold front extended south-southwest
through the Florida Panhandle into the Gulf of Mexico. Along and
behind these fronts, light to moderate rain was falling from
southeast Virginia southwestward across the Southeast to the Gulf
Coast of Louisiana. Further north of the front, light freezing
rain was falling across portions of northern North Carolina into
south central Virginia as well as portions of central and
northeastern Louisiana into central Mississippi. Light freezing
drizzle was tapering off in central Texas. Some light snow also
continued across central Maryland.

As the cold front continues further southeast, the wintry
precipitation to the north will continue to wane into the early
afternoon. All winter weather warnings and advisories will be
ending within the next few hours.
