...A wintry mix of freezing rain, snow, and sleet continues from
central Texas northeast to the Mid-Atlantic...

Ice Storm Warnings are in effect for eastern Arkansas; far
southeastern Missouri; northwestern Mississippi; western
Tennessee; and large portions of Kentucky.

Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for portions of southwestern
West Virginia and central Texas.

Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for portions of
west-central, central, and northern Texas; southeastern Oklahoma;
northern, western, and southern Arkansas; northwestern
Mississippi; western and northern Tennessee; southern Indiana;
southeastern Ohio; central West Virginia; most portions of
Virginia; central Maryland and the Maryland Eastern Shore;
southeastern Pennsylvania; Delaware; most portions of New Jersey;
greater New York City and Long Island; and southwestern
Connecticut.

At 800 AM CST...A low pressure center was located along the
northern Tennessee and North Carolina border, near 36N 82W, with
an estimated central pressure of 1015 mb, or 29.97 inches of
mercury. A stationary front extended northeast from this low into
central Virginia and southwest to a second low along the Georgia
and Tennessee border, near 35N 85W, with an estimated central
pressure of 1015 mb, or 29.97 inches of mercury. A cold front
extends southwest from this low through Alabama, Mississippi, and
Louisiana into the Gulf of Mexico before curving back
northwestward over far south Texas and northern Mexico. Moderate
rain was occurring along the length of this front from
southwestern Virginia southwest to the Texas Gulf Coast. Freezing
rain was occurring over portions of central Texas, the
Mid-Mississippi Valley, and across the Appalachians in Kentucky as
well as southern West Virginia and Virginia. Snow was occurring
over portions of the central Mid-Atlantic and Ohio Valley.

Freezing rain will continue from central Texas northeast through
southeastern Oklahoma, the mid-Mississippi valley, and most of
Kentucky and the Ohio Valley through tonight, tapering off first
from southeastern Oklahoma to the mid-Mississippi Valley and
lingering longer in central Texas and Kentucky. Current snowfall
across the Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic will taper off through
early afternoon. A second round of snow will impact eastern West
Virginia and northern Virginia east into southern Maryland and the
Maryland eastern shore and Delaware tonight through Friday
afternoon. A wintry mix of sleet, snow, and freezing rain will
continue for southern West Virginia and Virginia east to the
Atlantic coast through Friday afternoon. The greatest impacts are
likely in the mid-Mississippi Valley east into Kentucky where
widespread freezing rain greater than 0.25 inches is likely with
totals over 0.5 inches possible.
