...Moderate to heavy snow impacting parts of the Northeast...

Winter Storm Warnings are in effect from the Mid-Atlantic through
the Northeast.

Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for parts of the Ohio
Valley/Mid-Atlantic and up through parts of the interior Northeast.

Coastal Flood Watches, Advisories and Warnings are in effect for
portions of east-central Delaware to the southern coastline of
Maine.

At 900 AM EST...An area of low pressure with a central pressure of
995 mb, or 29.38 inches of mercury, was analyzed off the
Mid-Atlantic coast near 37.72N 72.85W. An occluded boundary
extended out into the Atlantic with a cold front stretching south
through Florida and the southern Gulf of Mexico, while the warm
front extended out east into the Atlantic. A stationary boundary
was draped over top of the system, extending from the eastern
shore of Maryland and out to sea. Moderate to heavy snow bands
were observed moving north across parts of eastern Pennsylvania,
central/northern New Jersey and New York City. An area of freezing
rain/mixed precip was observed over southeastern Pennsylvania and
Philadelphia.

Moderate to heavy snow is likely to spread north across New
England over the next couple of days as the area of low pressure
lingers around the Northeast coast. It is then forecast to move
into Nova Scotia by Wednesday morning. Snowfall totals are likely
to be between 8-12 inches for most of the coastal and interior
portions of the Northeast with some isolated amounts reaching well
over a foot by Wednesday. Freezing rain is also possible across
coastal New England and Mid-Atlantic today with accumulations
likely to remianing below a tenth of an inch.
