The surface low is expected to deepen in earnest over the next 6
hours and start to lift east-northeast out of Colorado into
western Kansas continuing strong southerly flow ahead of the storm
and supporting expansion of the strong heavy snow band across
South Dakota toward much of southern Minnesota and into Wisconsin,
while slowing in intensity across the central Rockies and Wyoming.
An additional 1-2" are possible across the lower elevations of
Wyoming and Northern Colorado though highest elevations in the
Colorado Rockies still may have an additional 4-8". The band of
heaviest snows across SE South Dakota into Minnesota will see
6-10" with 9-12" across southern Minnesota just south of the Twin
Cites into Western Wisconsin. Additionally south of the front,
strong gusty winds will develop across the southern Rockies into
the Southern High Plains resulting in a High Wind Watch but
support a fire danger where Red Flag Warnings are in effect across
much of northwest Texas, western Oklahoma into south-central
Kansas.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 900 PM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
