At 700 AM PDT...A low pressure system with a central pressure of
964 mb, or 28.47 in/Hg, was analyzed west of Vancouver Island in
British Colombia, at approximately 48.5 north, 128.5 west. An

The low pressure center will continue to weaken as it moves slowly
northeast while the cold front will continue southward through
Southern California Monday. Heavy rain will continue to move
southward through the state along the front through Monday evening
as heavy snow continues for higher elevations of the Sierra
Nevada. A Slight Risk of Excessive Rainfall is in effect along the
windward side of the Sierra Nevada on the eastern edge of the San
Joaquin Valley where an additional 3" + of rainfall is possible. A
Marginal Risk is in effect for a broader portion of the San
Joaquin Valley as well as Big Sur and the Southern Coast Ranges
for an additional couple inches of rain. Flash flooding will
remain a concern specifically for burn scars. Winter Storm
Warnings remain in effect for higher elevations of the Sierra
Nevada through this evening, where totals locally could exceed
several feet.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 800 PM PDT. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
