The upper level disturbance over western Texas will continue to
steadily progress east through Sunday and Monday with the area of
low pressure to track along the Gulf Coast into the western
Atlantic by Sunday afternoon. Heavy rain is expected near and
north of the low track from the Mississippi Valley through the
Gulf Coast states, where 2 to 4 inches of rainfall with locally
higher amounts will be possible from Louisiana into South
Carolina. Snow and freezing rain are forecast to continue
developing along the northern and western fringes of the
precipitation shield this morning over West Texas, Oklahoma and
northern Arkansas. Up to four inches of snow along with light
freezing rain accumulations are expected for these locations, with
additional light snow/ice accumulations extending eastward through
the Tennessee Valley into Sunday. As the storm organizes near the
coast of the southeastern U.S early on Sunday, significant
snowfall of over a foot is expected to affect portions of western
North Carolina into southwest Virginia along with freezing rain
affecting the Piedmont into sections of the Coastal Plain.

The next storm summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 300 PM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
