Deep/Shallow Convection
Deep Convection: Thermally driven turbulent mixing, where vertical motions take parcels from lower atmosphere above 500 hPa
- Generally requires:
- Low Level Convergence
- Upper level divergence
- Relative Humidity in excess of 70% lifted above 500 hPa
- Unstable Layer.
- Triggering Mechanism
Frontal Boundaries, Shearlines, Tropical Cyclones, Tropical Waves, TUTT Lows
