CENTRAL PLAINS AND THE UPPER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY...

FLASH FLOOD WATCHES ARE CURRENTLY IN EFFECT FOR A LARGE PORTION OF
THE UPPER MIDWEST INCLUDING PORTIONS OF NEBRASKA...SOUTHEASTERN
SOUTH DAKOTA...SOUTHERN MINNESOTA AND WISCONSIN...MUCH OF
IOWA...AND NORTHWESTERN ILLINOIS. FLASH FLOOD WATCHES ALSO REMAIN
IN EFFECT ACROSS SECTIONS OF OHIO.

FLOOD AND FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS CURRENTLY EXTEND FROM PORTIONS OF
NEBRASKA...EASTWARD THROUGH IOWA...SOUTHERN WISCONSIN...NORTHERN
ILLINOIS...INTO NORTHERN INDIANA AND OHIO.

FOR THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS...A QUASI-STATIONARY FRONTAL
BOUNDARY...CURRENTLY EXTENDING FROM THE CENTRAL PLAINS THROUGH THE
UPPER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY INTO THE GREAT LAKES REGION...HAS SERVED
AS A FOCUS FOR HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS THESE AREAS. OVER THE PAST
SIX HOURS...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADARS HAVE SHOWN SEVERAL
THUNDERSTORM COMPLEXES PUSHING TO THE SOUTH AND EAST ACROSS
NEBRASKA AND IOWA...AS WELL AS NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND MICHIGAN.
THESE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAVE BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR ADDING
MORE RAINFALL TO AN ALREADY SATURATED GROUND. IN ADDITION TO
PRODUCING HEAVY RAINS...SOME OF THESE STORMS HAVE BEEN SEVERE
CONTAINING LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS.

A SURFACE WAVE IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ALONG THE FRONT TONIGHT OVER
NEBRASKA AND PUSH OFF TO THE NORTHEAST. THIS WILL HELP THE FRONT
TO SLOWLY MOVE SOUTH AND EAST AS A COLD FRONT ACROSS PORTIONS OF
THE UPPER MIDWEST. AREAS OF MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN ARE EXPECTED TO
PERSIST ACROSS NEBRASKA AND IOWA...MOVING EAST INTO MUCH OF
WISCONSIN AND SOUTHERN MINNESOTA BY THURSDAY MORNING.  ADDITIONAL
RAINFALL TOTALS OF 2 TO 4 INCHES ARE EXPECTED ACROSS EASTERN
NEBRASKA...IOWA INTO WISCONSIN BY THURSDAY EVENING...WITH ISOLATED
HEAVIER TOTALS POSSIBLE.
