At 800 PM CST...A frontal boundary, with a wave of low pressure
located near the Oklahoma-Arkansas border, remained nearly
stationary across Texas and into the mid-Mississippi Valley.
National Weather Service radars indicated multiple organized
clusters of heavy rain and thunderstorms were moving across
western to central Gulf Coast states ahead of the stationary front
with the strongest thunderstorms passing east of Houston, Texas.
Lines of thunderstorms with heavy rain were also moving into
southern Alabama near another stationary front. An area of heavy
rain was moving into southwestern Mississippi. Meanwhile, a new
area of showers and thunderstorms was developing and expanding
behind the stationary front across south-central Texas as an
upper-level shortwave was approaching from the west.

Additional upper-level shortwaves are forecast to move off the
southern Rockies into the southern Plains over the next couple of
days and interact with the stationary front. Multiple waves of
low pressure developing along the front will bring bouts of heavy
rain and thunderstorms that will only progress very slowly
eastward across the central Gulf Coast states. This will keep the
threat of flash flooding in place through the next couple of days.
Heavy rain may also be enhanced by thunderstorms training across
the same region. Rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches, with local
amounts of 10 inches, are possible across sections of the Gulf
Coast through Friday.

The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 900 AM CST. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
