The coastal low will slowly drift north along toward the coast of
Maine through Friday morning, becoming nearly stationary into
Saturday. Wintry precipitation is forecast to continue in the
Northeast and downwind of Lake Erie and Ontario through Saturday
with the heaviest snow totals forecast for northern New York into
the higher terrain of Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine through
Friday. Areas of moderate to heavy snowfall will gradually
decrease in intensity and coverage through Friday morning, but
areas of light snow will continue through Friday night over large
portions of Upstate New York into northern New England. Additional
snowfall accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are expected across
portions of central and northern New York into the lower
elevations of northern New England while mountainous locations
could receive up to another foot of snow through Saturday. The
combination of wet snow, a high snow load, and gusty winds could
cause some tree damage and power outages.
The next Storm Summary will be issued by the Weather Prediction
Center at 1100 AM EDT. Please refer to your local National Weather
Service office for additional information on this event.
