One of the tools that allows this improvement is looking at various model solutions (MRF, ECMWF, UKMET, Canadian Model, NOGAPS and the 12Z AVN extension) along with ensemble runs of the MRF and ECMWF to assess model uncertainty. This allows forecasters to lean towards a solution other than that offered by MRF.
